The residents pressure group D.A.M.A.G.E. formed to successfully fight the last HCC draft Minerals and Waste Plan in 1992, has regrouped and leafleted the majority of households in Downton, Milford and Everton, highlighting the issues for the community should the latest or subsequent applications succeed. On the last occasion that Downton Manor Farm was subject to inclusion possible gravel extraction and landfill with waste 10 years ago, the residents rallied to present a united and determined opposition to the draft HCC proposals and all the indications are that feelings are running even higher this time, with a common comment being: "why us and why again"?

Hampshire County Council Minerals Plan, Public Meeting held on November 22nd in Milford-on-Sea. The meeting chaired by the DAMAGE Committee was attended by over 150 residents, MP Desmond Swayne, local HCC Councillors Alan Rice and Adrian Evans and Bob Bishop of Milford Parish Council.......more
From the November 10th Lymington Times, it is evident that HCC are determined that residents “should choose between DOWNTON and ASHLEY Manor Farms” as one or the other is likely to be a preferred site. OR, quote,“another site will need to be identified and suggestions would be welcomed” as an alternative to either.......more

Dear Mr Read, We see from the Hants website that the consultation period on the Draft Hampshire Minerals Plan will commence on October 31st and close on the 12th of December. As 6 weeks is a very short time.......more
Downton Farm Public Inquiry - The appeal by New Milton Sand & Ballast to allow gravel extraction and landfill, was rejected by the Secretary of State on September 20th. The DAMAGE Committee are very pleased with the result and see it as a vindication of the hard fought battle at the Inquiry held in April............more
